Filtronic rockets to record £51 million SpaceX order

A County Durham based technology firm has secured a record £50 million-plus deal to back Elon Musk’s aerospace adventure.
Filtronic is set to supply apparatus to SpaceX. Officials say the £51.3 million agreement represents another “significant milestone” for the company.
The deal smashes a previously unveiled £47.3 million alliance with the US-based rocket and spacecraft behemoth.
Under the terms of the deal, Filtronic – based at NETPark, in Sedgefield – will supply power amplifier units to SpaceX, which it is understood will be used in the latter’s Starlink constellation that uses low Earth orbit satellites to deliver high-speed internet connections.
