An investor has acquired the site in a deal brokered by Naylors Gavin Black.

The former home of a North East glass manufacturer has been sold to an investor, a year after the factory ceased operations after more than 40 years.
The Peterlee site of PLG Glass – part of the United Glass Group – was put up for sale in June 2023, following its owner’s decision to cease manufacturing in the North East on the back of significant rises in energy and employment costs and an increasingly challenging market.
The group decided to consolidate production, moving the North East site’s work to its other UK locations, making the 56,000sqft facility available and bringing work in the region to an end, having first started in 1977.
Now property agent Naylors Gavin Black has secured the sale of the factory in County Durham to an investor, for a figure in the region of £2m. Keith Stewart brokered the deal on behalf of the owner Brownhills, with HTA acting on behalf of the buyer.
