Bishop Auckland based Plastic Mouldings Northern Ltd are highly regarded in the industry as the go to solutions provider and for their rapid customer response time, so when the team were approached by the Great North Air Ambulance Service it was all action stations to support the charity.
Last month Plastic Mouldings Northern gifted the charity nearly £1,000 worth of stock which included pallet boxes and a spill tray to support the endeavours of the Great North Air Ambulance Service at a critical time of the year.
Grace Collingwood, Internal Sales Co-ordinator at Plastic Mouldings Northern Ltd said:
“We were delighted to support the charity, the pallet boxes have been instrumental for their high stock volumes including drums of shampoo, shower gel, clothes and books.
We didn’t realise that during the Great North Run a lot of clothes are left on the sides of the race which were taken off by people running, so to avoid these being disposed of they are recovered by the Great North Air Ambulance Service. Laundrettes help out too and offer their services to clean the clothes, and now they have somewhere to store them – it’s a real community operation!
Our pallet boxes are so versatile, and we were honoured to support such a vital charity in their hour of need.”
The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) brings pioneering pre-hospital care to the scene, rescuing hundreds of severely injured or ill patients every year. To remain operational and continue helping critically ill or injured residents across North East, North Yorkshire, Cumbria and the Isle of Man, the charity has to raise about £8.5m annually.
Vicky Fisher, Specialist Fundraiser, Great North Air Ambulance Service said:
“We are extremely grateful for the generosity received from Plastic Mouldings Northern. Donations from businesses play a huge part in helping us raise the £9.3 million we need a year to keep our vital service going. Thanks to support like this, we are able to carry on helping people in their darkest moments.”
The main output at Plastic Mouldings Northern is the production of vacuum formed plastic parts, which sees them supply high quality and often very intricate moulded parts across a range of industries from automotive and aerospace, to the food industry. The brands they serve span globally and include The London Underground, Bentley, McLaren, BAE, the Ocado group and Bosch. Alongside their vacuum forming operation they are one of the UKs leading suppliers of plastic packaging solutions, including Euro containers, across a wide range of industries.
Geoff Hodgson, Managing Director, Plastic Mouldings Northern Ltd said:
“Contributions to environmental sustainability are a key part of our operations here at Plastic Mouldings Northern, and we’ve received recognition nationally for our own work to divert material from landfill, so to hear that our pallet boxes are aiding the storage of clothes which would have been otherwise disposed of at the Great North Run is good news.
The team worked swiftly to support the life-saving charity, and we look forward to further continuing our relationship with The Great North Air Ambulance Service in the months to come.”
