County Durham based, Rezon, has been named winner of the prestigious Innovation Award for Sports Equipment Design at the FIT Sport Design Awards 2025.
The accolade recognises Rezon’s flagship product, the Rezon Halos, the only legally CE-marked protective headband in the UK and Europe, for its revolutionary approach to athlete brain protection.
Chosen from a field of leading sports innovators representing more than 20 countries across 45 categories, Rezon’s recognition underscores its cutting-edge role in redefining safety standards in sport.
The FIT Sport Design Awards, part of the globally respected 3C Awards platform, celebrate innovation and sustainable design in the world of sports, spotlighting advancements from next-generation equipment to smart apparel and performance footwear.
Rezon Halos has set a new benchmark in headgear technology, reducing rotational forces to the brain by up to 61%. Designed to mitigate the often-overlooked risk of sub-concussions, which are smaller, repeated impacts that can impair cognitive function and contribute to long-term conditions such as Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE).
This award marks Rezon’s second international recognition in less than two months, following its recent achievement as a finalist at the prestigious SPOT 2025 Awards in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Rezon also continues to expand globally, most recently entering the Japanese market. The company now sells into 15 geographies worldwide, with its innovative Halos product being used across 18 different sports
Judith McMinn, CEO and Founder of Rezon, said: “This award is a tremendous honour and an endorsement of our relentless focus on brain protection in sport. We founded Rezon to challenge outdated safety norms and put neuroscience at the heart of our innovation. To be recognised on the international stage for that vision proves that we are moving in the right direction as a company. Our Halos is more than a product; it’s a commitment to athlete wellbeing and safety in sports across the world.”
Astrid Hébert, Co-Founder and Director of the 3C Awards, added: “Each year, I’m blown away by the talent, passion, and innovation that pour into the FIT Sport Design Awards. What started as an ambitious idea has grown into a platform that truly celebrates the designers and brands shaping the future of sport. I’m incredibly proud of how far we’ve come, and even prouder of the incredible community we've built around performance, purpose, and creativity. This third edition has been our strongest yet, and I can’t wait to see how these bold ideas continue to inspire the next generation.”
