A sharp rise in new business start-ups is signalling renewed entrepreneurial confidence in the North East, according to new research.
According to a report from R3, the UK’s trade body for restructuring, turnaround and insolvency professionals, 1,665 businesses were launched in the region in September, up 29 per cent from 1,295 in the same month last year.
The North East recorded the second-highest growth in start-up activity across the UK, with only Wales seeing a higher increase at 35 per cent.
